Philly Man To Spend Up To 6 Years In Prison In Road-Rage Shooting

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A 51-year-old Philadelphia man will spend three to six years in prison as he pleads guilty to a road-rage shooting on the Blue Route in the spring.

Anthony Richardson pleaded guilty in Montgomery County Court to firing his gun at another car during evening rush hour on the Blue Route in Lower Merion Township on May 5.

Prosecutor John Gradel said Richardson was tailgating another car, as the driver of that car hit his brakes.

"Richardson went onto the shoulder and passed him, then Richardson slowed up and allowed the driver to pull up along side him," Gradel said.

That's when Gradel said Richardson fired the shot.

"The bullet penetrated the passenger side door and lodged in the center console," Gradel said.

Gradel said it's fortunate no one was hurt:

"They were travelling in excess of 70 mph, so it could have been much, much worse," he said.

Richardson pleaded guilty to aggravated assault, and charges of attempted murder and reckless endangerment were dropped.
