Agholor Gets Fresh Perspective
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Nelson Agholor believes he has a greater appreciation of his job than ever before.
The troubled Eagles wide receiver was reduced to the role of spectator on Monday night when his team went down to defeat at the hands of the Packers. After weeks of poor play and heavy criticism, Agholor has a new outlook on the game and is hoping to return this weekend when the Eagles battle the Bengals in Cincinnati.
"It's all about just living in the moment and enjoying what I do," said Agholor. "That's one of the main reasons why I'm so grateful for what happened last week and was still able to come back and practice this week. I didn't play, but I love the game."
Agholor's struggles resulted in more than one rant of post-game frustration. It seemed as if the criticism in the Twitter world was having an effect on the receiver. Agholor insists he will approach each day with a positive attitude as he looks to recapture his love of the game.
"Having fun is the most important thing," Agholor said. "When you have fun, you don't even think. You react. You just play hard. God gave me great ability. Right now, I just need to take advantage of it."
The criticism of Agholor by the fans has been well publicized. Some were demanding the release of the former first round draft pick. However, Agholor said he was also receiving support from other members of the Philadelphia fan base.
"I actually received some notes from some fans," said Agholor. "There was great support. I don't know them personally, but I really appreciate it. People care. We're in a great organization with great people."
Doug Pederson has yet to make an official announcement concerning Agholor's status for Sunday's game in Cincinnati. However, all signs point to Agholor returning. The receiver is hoping he will get his chance to return but says he will work to get back on the field while respecting the decisions of the coaching staff.
"I respect my coaches," Agholor said. "I'm a competitor. On my mind when I knew I wasn't going to play Monday was to get after it Tuesday, prepare for Cincinnati and prepare to play this Sunday."
