Police Searching for Hit-And-Run Driver Who Fatally Struck Toms River Man

TOMS RIVER, N.J. (CBS)—Authorities are investigating after a man was struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver late Tuesday night.

It happened around 11:00 p.m. near Rt. 70 westbound at the Rt. 9 bridge.

At the scene, police found a 34-year-old Toms River man injured after being struck by multiple vehicles. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the man was initially struck by a 2014-2016 blue Infinity Q50, similar to the one below.

The driver of the Infinity left the scene following the strike and is believed to have heavy front end damage.

Police say the man was subsequently struck by additional vehicles which immediately stopped and remained at the scene to render assistance.
