Hi-Tech Holiday Tradition Returns To Comcast Center

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Families are expected to gather in Center City starting on Thanksgiving Day for a hi-tech holiday tradition now in its 9th season.

The Comcast Holiday Spectacular is shown on one of the world's largest highest resolution LED displays, spanning more than 83 feet wide by more than 25 feet high. The video wall is five times the resolution of high-definition television.

John Demming is with Comcast. He describes some of the crowd favorites, including a magic flying sleigh ride you are a passenger on.

"It comes through the clouds and then you see the city of Philadelphia," Demming explained. "It's just a very wonderful, wonderful scene. Towards the end of the show there is a sing-a-long where you sing 'It's The Most Wonderful Time of Year.'"

There is also a segment where the Pennsylvania Ballet performs a scene from 'The Nutcracker.'

The free holiday show in the lobby of the Comcast Center is 15 minutes long and runs at the top of the hour 10am-8pm, excluding weekdays at 5 p.m.

According to Comcast, more than 1.6 million people have seen the show since its debut in 2008.
