A homeowner tells CBS 3’s Jan Carabeo that he was getting a glass of water when he saw the initial flames.

Seconds later the homeowner reports that one officer—who was on patrol in the area—saw the flames as well, and rushed in to save his family.

The family of six all escaped the fire uninjured.

Authorities say the blaze started in the garage in the rear of the home.
