Didinger Not Giving Up On Agholor: 'It's His Head, Not His Hands'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There's one man remaining who is not giving up on Eagles receiver Nelson Agholor.

And he knows his football.

On the morning after Agholor's zero-catch, wide open drop, and 57-yard touchdown eliminating illegal formation penalty game at the Seahawks, Hall Of Famer Ray Didinger explained why he's not ready to quit on the second-year receiver just yet.

"My assessment is the guy has zero confidence and everything that is going on with him is right between his ears," Didinger said Monday on the 94WIP Morning Show. "And everybody saying it's his hands and it's this -- no it's his head. The guy has no confidence. If I really believe -- and maybe I'll come to this at some point -- but if I really believe that the guy just can't play. That the guy was a bad draft and he just flat can't play. He doesn't have the physical skill set to compete successfully in the National Football League, I'd say that. And then I'd say, OK move on. "

Agholor was the Eagles' 20th overall pick in the 2015 draft and Didinger was high on the USC standout receiver coming out of college. However, Agholor has just 50 catches for 547 yards and two touchdowns in 23 career games.

"But I really do believe, based on what I saw of him in college, that he is a really talented player and a guy who can be a successful player in the NFL," Didinger said. "Right now his confidence has been broken to a point where, it's very hard for him to do anything. Everything he does is indecisive, he second guesses himself, and it's made him a slower player."
