Orlando Tragedy Stories Come To Philadelphia Theatre Company Stage
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Philadelphia Theatre Company is hosting a one night only production Monday evening that tells the diverse stories of the victims in the Orlando Nightclub shooting.
The goal: to raise money for the victims.
"It's been so moving and deeply impactful," says Carrie Chapter -- Literary Manager at the Theater, serving as local host of the national effort titled, "After Orlando."
It pulls together dozens of three to five minute plays from playwrights from the U.S., UK, Candida and Africa, that provide a variety of perspectives related to mass shooting at Pulse Nightclub that claimed 49 lives last June.
"There are many that depict couples both before and after the attack and then there are others who are more message driven trying to celebrate those who died," says Chapter.
PTC will showcase 16 of those plays, as well as a performance by Patience Carter, who was shot several times, wowing the world with a passionate poem about survival.
"The ultimate goal is to bring our communities together," adds Chapter.
The free event is at 7 p.m. at the Suzanne Roberts Theater. Donations are welcome and will benefit PULSE of Orlando.
