West Chester Closes Regular Season Saturday At Clarion

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It will be the regular season finale on Saturday for the Division II West Chester University Golden Rams as they take to the road to visit Clarion.

West Chester hammered Millersville last week, 52-0. The win was the fifth in a row for the Golden Rams after a 2-3 start. Head coach Bill Zwaan is happy how his team came together as the season wore on.

"Kids kind of caught themselves, turned the thing around, got back to playing the way they really can play," Zwaan tells KYW Newsradio. "It was probably one week too late as far as the playoffs and everything are concerned, but they did a really good job of catching themselves and not allowing the season to go south."

On Saturday, the Golden Rams will match-up against a Clarion team that is 4-6, but the Golden Eagles have won two straight and Zwaan is impressed with their offense, which scored 68 total points in those two wins.

"This is one of those games where you can't get field goals when you have chances for touchdowns," he says. "And when you have the chance, you've got to put the ball in the end zone. You've got to keep thinking about scoring points, because this is a really good offensive football team we're playing."

Saturday's game will begin at noon.
