Kelce: 'Grown To Love And Appreciate Playing In Philly'

By Andrew Porter

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Jason Kelce has spent his entire career in Philadelphia.

Kelce, a 2013 Pro Football Focus All-Pro and a 2014 Pro Bowl center, has had his ups and downs over the past six seasons. Recently, the 29-year-old 280-pound center, has received a fair share of criticism from the fan base.

Kelce wouldn't have it any other way.

"This is the only city I've played in," Kelce told Angelo Cataldi and the 94WIP Morning Show, when asked about playing in Philly.

"I think that ever since I've been here, I've grown to love and appreciate playing in this city. There's no doubt that the fans will let you know when you're playing poorly, and they're gonna let you know when you're playing well. That's how passionate this city is, they're not going to accept anything but the best out of you or you getting your job done."

Kelce was the Eagles' 2011 sixth-round pick and agreed to a six-year extension worth $37.5 million before the 2014 season. However, after the 2016 campaign, the Eagles can save significant cap space by releasing Kelce. Of course, that could also lead to a contract restructuring, because Kelce certainly doesn't want to go anywhere.

"It's something that I've truly enjoyed and hopefully I'll get to do this for a lot longer," Kelce said of playing for the Eagles. "I love playing in this city, these fans -- I'm probably going to live here for the rest of my life. It's been a -- I don't want to say anything too cliche, but it's been awesome."
