Puppies Help Destress Anxious Voters
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- There were 'Pound Puppies' at the polls at several places in Philadelphia today greeting voters as they cast their ballots.
Silas the three-month-old Springer Spaniel mix and Spanky the three-month-old Pit bull mix were destressing voters and acting as ambassadors for all the animals at the Pennsylvania SPCA or PSPCA.
Kent Roberts had to stop to pet the pooches at Broad and Lombard.
"I think this is the best idea I literally ever heard because I can not tell you how much stress that this election has put on everyone," Roberts said.
The PSPCA's Gillian Kocher said they have plenty of pets.
"At any given time we have between 400 and 500 animals in our shelter," Kocher said. "Whether you are looking for a Springer Spaniel puppy, a pit bull puppy, or a cat, we encourage people to come down and see who we have."
