West Chester Welcomes Millersville To Town Saturday

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It will be the final regular season home game on Saturday for Division II West Chester University as the Golden Rams host Millersville.

West Chester improved to 6-3 on the season (5-1 in the PSAC East) this past Saturday, beating up East Stroudsburg on the road, 41-14.

"It was a little struggle in the first half for us offensively," West Chester head coach Bill Zwaan tells KYW Newsradio. "(Quarterback) Pat (Moriarty) was struggling a little bit with some completions. But he had a good two-minute drive right at the end of the half which put us in front. Then we came out and really dominated them on the ground."

Listen to the entire interview with West Chester's Bill Zwaan:

West Chester finished the game with 386 yards rushing and four touchdowns on the ground. Running back Jarel Elder (118) and Eerin Young (110) each went over 100 yards in the win, Elder scoring two touchdowns, Young one.

The win was the fourth in a row for West Chester and the Golden Rams are playing really good football right now. They can't catch Kutztown for a spot in the PSAC title game, but there is still some hope for a playoff berth. However, to have any chance of that the Golden Rams have to win out, starting with Saturday's game against 2-7 Millersville.

"We've got to be real serious about this and go take it to them," Zwaan says. "They've got enough talent to stay in the game with us and we don't really want that to happen for too long. But I really think if we just play the game the way we can, and we've been playing pretty good lately, just keep progressing that way, get better each week, then we should be okay."

Zwaan says the Marauders have improved up front on both sides of the football.

"Their offensive and defensive lines have grown up," Zwaan says. "In other words, we've seen these guys for a couple years. When they were playing them a couple years ago, they weren't quite ready. Now, two years later, they play pretty well up front."

Saturday's game will start at 12:05pm.
