Brandon Graham Confident In Josh Huff Turning Things Around

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Brandon Graham is sticking by his teammate Josh Huff.

Huff was reportedly arrested on Tuesday morning after allegedly speeding on the Walt Whitman bridge while carrying a 9 millimeter handgun and less than 50 grams of marijuana in his car.

Graham, now a 28-year-old veteran and one of the Eagles' best players, admits he was immature when he first entered the league and believes the 25-year-old Huff is going to turn his life around.

"Huff is a professional and he has to, you know, sometimes [it's] a big distraction because they [the media] can definitely blow it up," Graham said Wednesday on the 94WIP Morning Show. "I hate that he was in that situation because he is a really good guy, man. It's just tough that he has to go through this, but like I talked to him yesterday. I told him, we're gonna make sure we keep him in our prayers and make sure that he learn from this. At the end of the day, I understand coming in and I was immature in the beginning. I think he's grown because he's a father now, he's married. I really do think his life is definitely going to turn around. We just all got to let go of bad habits sometimes."

The 4-3 Eagles have a huge divisional matchup at the 4-3 Giants on Sunday afternoon. Graham is taking on extra responsibility as a leader of the team to keep everyone focused.

"I really just think we're just gonna keep working hard," Graham said when asked how the team will respond to Huff's incident. "All we gotta do is talk to him and keep moving forward. There's no point in beating a dead horse with him. I just think that a lot of people -- if they don't learn from them going through what they're going through and seeing exactly the effect that it has on people, I think than it's shame on us, the leaders.

"Sometimes people step outside the goal, but they come back -- we got to reel them back in and get them focused. And that's what we're going to do."

Another Eagles third-year receiver, Jordan Matthews, also defended Huff.

"We've all made our mistakes," Matthews echoed Graham's sentiment towards Huff on Tuesday. "Josh made a mistake. Josh is not a bad person. He's definitely not a criminal. He's a great guy and he's one of my very close friends, so like I said, I'm hoping that this whole process, whatever he has to go through, can go over smoothly."
