SEPTA: Strike Pickets Causing Regional Rail Disruptions For Evening Commute

PHILADELPHIA (CBS/AP) -- SEPTA says because of TWU strike-related pickets at Regional Rail facilities, SEPTA will have to cancel a significant number of trains during the evening rush hour.

SEPTA is recommending passengers seek alternative modes of travel. The transit agency says it will post a full list of cancelled trains on the website and Twitter.

Officials say the pickets are blocking access to some facilities where Regional Rail trains report to work. SEPTA says it is seeking a court injunction that will allow Regional Rail employees to report to their work locations.

Union spokesman Jamie Horwitz says it's working with SEPTA lawyers to ensure both that strikers can exercise free speech and that regional rail workers have "unfettered access," to SEPTA facilities.

City buses, trolleys and subways have all been shut down by the walkout, which began at 12:01 a.m. Tuesday.
