Eagles Look To Jump-Start Offense

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - The Eagles were able to snap their two-game losing streak last Sunday, but the offense didn't exactly light up the scoreboard.

There was only one offensive touchdown by the Birds in their 21-10 win over Minnesota. The offense also had its share of issues in Washington and Detroit.

Some believe the Eagles may need an upgrade in their skill positions, but Offensive Coordinator Frank Reich says he still has complete faith in the players on the roster.

"You've got to have confidence," he says. "With coaches, it's a business and coaches make decisions based on things and when those decisions get made, they get made. But when a guy is in the game, we have to play with confidence and we have to coach with confidence and I don't see any other way to do it."

The players insist their confidence remains high. Running Back Ryan Mathews is one Eagle who has had some particularly rough moments in recent weeks. Mathews insists he isn't worried about his playing time getting reduced if his production does not increase over the next few games.

"I don't worry about stuff like that," he said. "Worrying about stuff like that just causes more stress. I can't control any of that. All I can control is trying to give 100-percent every time I touch the ball and getting better."

The Eagles offense will have to be better against the Cowboys. Dallas is off to a 5-1 start and the Cowboys' offense has made it difficult for teams to play catch-up.

Center Jason Kelce believes cutting down on penalties will result in better execution by the offense.

"We've had enough penalties," he says. "We don't need any more. I think if you look at our offense, I think the number one thing that's stalled us out has been drive-killing penalties. If we don't commit penalties, we tend to be pretty successful on offense."

Quarterback Carson Wentz has thrown only three interceptions this season, but two came in last week's victory. Wentz will look to get back to playing at the same level he did over the first three games of the season, and Reich understands there will still be bumps in the road for the rookie as the season progresses.

"That's life in the NFL," says Reich. "We're 4-2. We've made a lot of good decisions to get to 4-2, and certainly our defense and special teams have carried the day for us a lot, but we are still doing a lot of good things and Carson is doing a lot of great things."
