Embiid went 1-3 from downtown and 7-8 from the foul line. He’s 7’2″ and did that in just 22 minutes, in his first NBA game, primarily against a really solid NBA defender in Steven Adams. Wow.

4. The Middle Finger Guy

Unrelated to Embiid, but a guy gave Russell Westbrook the double middle finger and was ejected for it. What a Philadelphia moment!

“They are so hungry and so desperate for some positives in what has been such a difficult three year stretch,” ESPN’s play-by-play announcer Mike Breen said.

“And Mike, this is not a good basketball town, a great basketball. Villanova basketball national champions,” analyst Jeff Van Gundy replied.

1. ‘Trust The Process’ Chants And ‘He Can’t Guard Me’

Late in the game while Embiid was at the free-throw line, the fans began a “Trust The Process” chant. Van Gundy explained what the chants meant. Throughout the entire broadcast — especially early on — Van Gundy and Breen couldn’t get over the atmosphere at the Wells Fargo Center.

Embiid was in the zone and started barking at Steven Adams, a solid NBA defender, saying “he can’t guard me.”

The Process has begun!
