PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — Police are on the hunt for a man who assaulted a worker and robbed a deli in West Philadelphia.

Authorities say around 8:30 p.m. on October 22, the male entered the 55th Deli Market on the 1300 block of North 55th Street and retrieved a beverage from the refrigerator.

Police say once he approached the cash register, he pulled a handgun and violently grabbed a 44-year-old employee and then struck him in the head with the gun.

Authorities say the suspect got away with an unknown amount of money from the cash register.

The employee was treated for minor injuries.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, in his late 20s, with a thin build, a mustache, goatee, side burns and a gap between his front teeth. They say he was wearing a black vest with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath, jeans and a black winter hat.
