NEWTOWN, Pa. (CBS) — Donald Trump made his way to Newtown, Bucks County on Friday night to address supporters as he continues to try to win over Pennsylvania voters in the race for the White House.

Not everybody in Newtown was happy to see the republican nominee make a stop in town on Friday, especially on the site of a popular athletic club. In fact, some people actually cancelled their memberships.

Survey: Biggest Problem Facing Philadelphia Is Public Safety

Thousands waited in line to see Trump at the Newtown Athletic Club, but some people in town do not agree with the venue.

“People have their own opinions and if they’re not in favor of Trump, yes, I totally agree that it should be somewhere publicly, not provide,” said Toni Downs. She lives in Newtown and told Eyewitness News that it’s inappropriate for Trump to speak at the club. Why? Because, she says that not all of the members support the candidate.

Club owner Jim Worthington quite frankly does not care. He invited Trump to the club with open arms.

“This is probably the single most significant event in 38 years, so I’m excited in that respect, but I’m really more excited for the people of Bucks County.”

Some of his now former members don’t see it that way. “About 20 people have cancelled their memberships and more threatened,” Worthington said. “That’s fine. They have a choice as well, just like I have a choice to put this on at night.”

Newtown resident Dan DelGesso said he can’t stand Trump, but supports Worthington’s decision. “I don’t like him as a human being. Forget the whole business thing and his not being qualified. He’s the candidate. Let him say his peace to his people.”
