3 Charged For Allegedly Assaulting Mailman In Delaware County

MORTON, Pa. (CBS) -- A mailman in Morton, Delaware County was assaulted while doing his job.

The case was turned over to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office who just filed charges, and arrested three men.

Investigators say three men attacked a mailman, punching him more than a dozen times.

Spokesman for the Attorney General's Office, Jeffrey Johnson, says it all started when the trio were yelling at the victim about having his truck parked in the middle of the road.

"That escalated into a verbal altercation, which became physical and resulted in him being attacked, and also attacked while he was on the ground."

The incident happened in early January, and the case was turned over to the Attorney General because of a conflict of interest.

Derek Alonzo Dawson, Mark Timothy White and Joseph Douglas Marion, all of Delaware County, have been charged with aggravated assault, harassment and related offenses.

They are due in court at the end of the month.
