Another NJ Poll Paints Christie In A Bad Light
MADISON, NJ (CBS) -- Just when you thought New Jersey Governor Chris Christie's poll numbers couldn't get any worse, a new poll comes out suggesting they've gotten worse.
The latest bit of bad news comes from the Fairleigh Dickinson Public Mind Poll and addresses, among other things, the Governor's job approval rating.
"We find that he is now at 21% approval, which is a drop of 5 points from June," poll Director Krista Jenkins told KYW Newsradio. "And his disapprovals has climbed to 72% which is an increase of 10 percentage points from June."
The reason why? Take your pick. Bridgegate. The gas tax hike. His continued support for Donald Trump. Even a majority of Republicans think he's doing a bad job.
But there is one bit of good news in this survey.
"57% reject the idea that Christie should leave office wither by stepping down or through removal by impeachment," Jenkins said. "Only 39% believe he should leave office."
Christie's term expires in January of 2018. He is constitutionally barred from seeking a third term.
Polls from Quinnipiac, Monmouth and Rutgers have all put Christie's job performance numbers at record lows.
It should be noted that Christie has steadfastly maintained his disinterest in polling data, good or bad.
