Security Officer Struck By Stray Bullet On Lincoln University Campus

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A security officer was struck by a stray bullet after gunfire erupted on the campus of Lincoln University, school officials said Sunday.

Police responded to the shooting around 3:30 a.m. along the 1500 block of Baltimore Pike in Chester County.

Officials said the there was an alteration on the main campus when shots were fired and a bullet hit a van that was carrying employees of a private security firm hired by the university for homecoming festivities taking place over the weekend.

A female security officer was struck in the arm by a stray bullet. She was taken to Christiana Hospital in stable condition.

School officials said no students were injured in the shooting and none were involved in the incident.

Pennsylvania State Police were assisting Lincoln University Police with their investigation.
