PHILADELPHIA (CBS) –– Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Kaine made a brief stop at a Philadelphia school this morning, greeting students and taking shots at Republican Donald Trump.

In a visit to Spring Garden Elementary School, Tim Kaine said he didn’t think Donald Trump was a good role model for children, and he saw distress in the Republican camp.

“I think there’s a level of desperation in the Trump campaign right now. Donald clearly did a very very poor job at he debate — at his first debate. And then two nights ago, his running mate basically threw him under the bus.”

The visit to Spring Garden Elementary was billed as part of a national “walk in” to schools to support public education. He was joined by teachers union leaders including national AFT President Randi Weingarten.

Thirty-three days from the election, Kaine said the Clinton ticket was not taking Pennsylvania for granted.

He said he’d be spending his time fundraising and working to maximize turnout.
