“We started in a tiny little room that held 25 people. Now we’re in this glorious memorial hall, so it’s been quite a journey,” said museum President and CEO Patricia Wellenbach.

Wellenbach says it’s an honor and a privilege to help mold young minds.

“We are the preeminent institution in this city that is dedicated to helping young kids learn through play,” she said.

Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney came out Sunday afternoon to help Please Touch celebrate turning the big 4-0.

He says it’s a great place for children.

“This is a way for them to get used to coming to museums, to learning while they’re there, and perhaps loving other museums at they get older,” he said.
