PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A man is dead after being shot multiple times while smoking a cigarette in front of his home in the city’s Wissinoming neighborhood late Tuesday night.

Philadelphia Police say the victim stepped outside of his home near Van Dike and Comly Streets just before midnight for a smoke.

As Chief Inspector Scott Small tells CBS 3 Eyewitness News, that’s when an unknown gunman fired at least 10-shots at the victim.

“Due to the fact that the victim was shot multiple times, it appears that this victim was the intended target.”

The victim was found in the doorway to his home.

He was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
