Gloucester County Animal Shelter Holds Special Cat Adoption Event

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's the "tail end" of kitten season -- the time of year stray and some pet cats give birth to their litters of kittens. That means overcrowded shelters. The Gloucester County, New Jersey animal shelter is holding a special open house and adoption event Saturday.

They're full up with cats at the Gloucester County shelter.

"We're inundated with cats at this time of the year," said shelter director Bill Lombardi. "[We have] lots of kittens that were born over the summer. So these kittens are all available at this time, they're all of age."

There are also plenty of older cats, if a kitten is not for you. It costs $95 to adopt a cat, and if you get one this weekend, you can adopt a second cat for free!

All the kittens come spayed or neutered, with all their shots and are ready to go to their forever homes.

And, if you can't make it to the shelter, cats will also be available during this weekend's Adopt-A-Thon at the PetSmart locations in Mantua Township and Turnersville.
