Travis Manion 9/11 Heroes Run Held At Please Touch Museum

by Mike Dougherty

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- About a thousand people gathered outside the Please Touch Museum Sunday morning for the annual Travis Manion Foundation 9/11 Heroes Run.

This is one of 50 Heroes Runs around the world to benefit the Travis Manion Foundation.

Philadelphia race director James Ask says it's beautiful to see everyone showing their support.

"The mission of the foundation is to challenge the living to honor the fallen. It's about challenging yourself to make yourself better and make your community better," said Ask.

Walt and his 10-year-old granddaughter Isabella were up to the challenge, both finishing 3rd in their age groups.

"It was good. Everyone was cheering for me," said Isabella.

"It's fantastic. The speech beforehand was fantastic. Very fitting, very enlightening," said Walt.

Money raised by the foundation helps wounded veterans as well as the families of fallen heroes.
