Springsteen, Adele Crowds Brave Heat Awaiting Concerts In South Philly

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Tailgaters awaited two big concerts coming to South Philadelphia Friday night....Adele and Bruce Springsteen.

The sports complex was alive with people waiting for Adele and Springsteen. For Adele fans, they get to see their show indoors, but Bruce fans are prepared to be singing, dancing and sweating the night away.

Springsteen fans arrived early in South Philadelphia and found the shady spots to tailgate.

Carl Casperson came prepared and wouldn't let the heat stop him from seeing The Boss for the 10th time this year. "It's awesome. It's great. A certain song might hit you, might bring you to tears, might make you call your wife and tell her you love her, might make you hug your dopey buddy. Who knows? It is like going to church."

Well, amen to drinking water. The Red Cross says hydration has to be the top priority during outdoor events in excessive heat. "I know it doesn't sound like fun, but every time you throw back a beer, throw back two bottles of water," said Red Cross of Southeastern PA CEO Judge Renee Cardwell Hughes.

She also warned to watch out for friends for heat related illnesses.

Experts say take it easy in the heat. Whether you're seeing Springsteen, or Adele, you can't enjoy the concert if you don't make it inside.
