Eagles Trade QB Sam Bradford To Vikings
PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Philadelphia Eagles have traded quarterback Sam Bradford to the Minnesota Vikings for a pair of draft picks.
The team confirmed the deal on Saturday via Twitter.
In exchange for Bradford, the Eagles acquired a first-round draft pick in 2017 and a fourth-round pick in 2018.
The Vikings were in desperate need of a quarterback after Teddy Bridgewater suffered a gruesome, season-ending knee injury this week during practice.
Bradford was acquired by the Eagles in a trade last year with the St. Louis Rams. He signed a two-year extension in March, just one month before the team traded away next year's first-round draft pick to move up and acquire quarterback Carson Wentz with the second overall pick.
Bradford's departure means backup Chase Daniel will likely start the season under center for the Eagles.
Wentz missed the last three preseason games after breaking his ribs in the preseason opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
With the NFL Draft coming to Philadelphia in April, Eagles fans will be happy to have a first-round pick to cheer (or boo) as that player walks up the steps of the Art Museum.
Fans will still have a chance to see Bradford at Lincoln Financial Field this season. The Eagles host the Vikings on October 23.
