PHILADELPHIA (CBS) — A trial date is set for suspect charged in the ambush shooting of Philadelphia Police officer Jesse Hartnett. Edward Archer will stand trial on October 21.

Archer is charged with attempted murder, among other charges.

He is accused of shooting Hartnett as he sat in his patrol car in West Philadelphia in January. Investigators say Hartnett took three bullets to his arm, but was able to return fire, wounding Archer.

Archer allegedly confessed to the shooting, claiming that he did it in the name of Islam.
