Sam Bradford Is 'All For' The Dorial Green-Beckham Trade

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Dorial Green-Beckham is used to second chances. He's getting another one in the NFL with the Eagles.

The talented, but troubled, wide receiver was traded to Philadelphia on Monday in exchange for offensive lineman Dennis Kelly.

Green-Beckham was a second round draft choice of Tennessee in 2015 and made 32 catches for 549 yards in his rookie season. Many considered Green-Beckham a first-round talent, but troubles off the field scared several NFL teams away. There were also questions about the receiver's work ethic in Tennessee, but general manager Howie Roseman was willing to take the risk because of Green-Beckham's potential.

"We've spend a lot of time here behind the scenes doing some background work," said Roseman. "He comes in with an opportunity. No promises have been made, We felt comfortable at this time to bring him in here and give him an opportunity to compete."

Green-Beckham will watch from the sidelines on Thursday when the Eagles take on the Steelers in preseason action. Pederson says he wants the newest Eagle to get acclimated with his teammates, but believes Green-Beckham still has work to do before taking the field for his new team.

"I want him to go on the trip," Pederson said. "I want him to get involved with the players and him get used to the team, the team getting used to him. I want to bring him on the trip and get him involved, but we have some work to do before we can get to that point."

The Eagles wide receivers have endured their share of criticism throughout training camp. The acquisition of Green-Beckham provides the team with a boost of talent at the position, and Quarterback Sam Bradford is happy the team is doing it's best to improve as the season draws closer.

"I'm all for it regardless of what position it's at," said Bradford. "The fact that they were aggressive and went out and made a move bringing in someone who they feel is going to help us is awesome."

Now, it is up to Green-Beckham to take advantage of his new opportunity. The trade could provide the Eagles the boost they need at the receiver position, while allowing Green-Beckham to put his off-the-field issues in the past. In the eyes of Roseman, it's all up to Green-Beckham.

"Are eyes are open," Roseman said. "We understand. It's been very public with coaches comments about him that he needs to get more consistent. He's an incredibly talented guy who has to make the most of this opportunity."
