Castor: 'Have My Hands Around' Job Of Attorney General

By Tony Romeo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Former Montgomery County DA and Commissioner Bruce Castor becomes Pennsylvania's acting attorney general on Wednesday.

Kathleen Kane, convicted on perjury and other charges Monday night, announced she'll resign at the close of business Wednesday.

Bruce Castor has been serving as Kathleen Kane's second-in-command for several months. On Tuesday afternoon, he told reporters he believes he has his "hands around" the situation in an attorney general's office that has been roiled during Kane's tenure.

"Well, I doubt that there's anybody in all of Pennsylvania that has more experience and brings more knowledge to the game than me, which is, I think, why I was sought out in the first place," said Castor.

Castor says his first priority will be to continue what he has been trying to do all along since becoming Kane's number two: restore public confidence in the work that the office of attorney general does, and restore morale in the ranks of the office.

Governor Wolf, meanwhile, called Kane's decision the right one, allowing Pennsylvania to "finally move on."
