Poll Of Likely Voters In PA Shows Senate Race In Dead Heat

By Dan Wing

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A Quinnipiac University poll of likely voters out this morning shows the race for Pennsylvania's U.S. Senate seat between Pat Toomey and Katie McGinty is too close to call.

The poll shows Democratic challenger Katie McGinty and incumbent Republican Pat Toomey pretty much neck-and-neck, with McGinty getting 47% to Toomey's 43.

While both candidates hold strong support among likely voters registered to their own respective parties, a large gap is found among women and non-white voters.

Women back McGinty 52-38%, while non-white voters go Democratic 71-12%.

Independent voters are pretty evenly split with Toomey leading McGinty 46 to 44%.
