WILMINGTON, DE. (CBS) — Police say a young boy who was found wandering alone in a park in Wilmington, Delaware has been reunited with his mother.

Authorities say the boy, believed to be about 2 or 3 years old, was found around 6 p.m. Monday in Speakman Park in the 200 block of East 30th Street.

Police searched the park and surrounding area extensively but were unable to locate a parent or guardian.

Police reached out to the public for help and were able to track down the boy’s mother.

She told police that she had left the child in the care of his stepfather, who is believed to have been with the boy at the park before the two became separated.

The circumstances of how the child was lost remain under investigation, but police say no foul play is suspected.
