Celek: 'Feels Like Andy Is Back A Little Bit'

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Not many Philadelphia Eagles have donned the midnight green for longer than Brent Celek. In fact, only one other player -- long snapper (and magician) Jon Dorenbos -- has.

The 31-year-old tight end is entering his 10th season with the team and has played for Andy Reid, Chip Kelly, and now Doug Pederson.

"Seeing Doug back here as a head coach is great," Celek told the 94WIP Mike & Ike Show on Monday. "He really hasn't changed too much. I think it's awesome to have a former quarter as your head coach because he understands defenses, he knows how to pick them apart. But overall, it kind of feels like Andy is back here a little bit. Kind of doing some of the similar stuff when you're talking about practice style, obviously the west coast offense. Obviously we're doing something different because Doug adds his flare to it.  But you know it's good. It's changed from the fast years and I'm excited to see our offense work in these games."

Eagles safety Malcolm Jenkins said the team's 2016 identity will be on defense and special teams, something Celek eluded to as well.

"We've got a really good defense, a great defensive coordinator [Jim Schwartz]," Celek said. "Obviously, special teams, in my opinion I think we've got the best special teams coach [Dave Fipp] in the league. And then on offense, like I said, I think it's going to be a little bit different. We're gonna do some stuff when it comes to pace, and picking up the pace here and there, but I think it's gonna be more scheme. Picking apart defenses based on what they're giving you and more of a chess game, I would say."

In his nine-year career, Celek has missed just one NFL game, starting 114 out of 143. Celek, who signed a new three-year deal worth $13 million in the offseason, has 4,713 receiving yards, 371 receptions, and 30 receiving touchdowns.
