Hillary Clinton Rally To Be Held Inside Temple University

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- The Democratic National Convention has wrapped up, but now the stage is set in North Philadelphia. Hillary Clinton will make her first campaign stop as the official Democratic presidential nominee.

Clinton will hold a rally inside Temple University's McGonigle Hall at Broad Street and Montgomery Avenue, alongside her husband, former president Bill Clinton. Philadelphia Police will be handling security.

The rally was originally scheduled to be held outside on Independence Mall, but the threat of storms forced organizers to move the event.

Police Commissioner Richard Ross says his department will prepare for protests, but he expects everything to be peaceful.

"Surely we will take the appropriate precautions, and make all the necessary planning arrangements that we've been doing to secure the event,"Ross said. "We don't see that as an issue for us, and we will continue with what's been working."

Ross says other agencies will help with the event, as other political leaders will be attendance. But overall, he says, the city will handle the rally like any other campaign stop.

"It will be business as usual," the police commissioner said. "It's only because it's so close to the convention that it changes it just slightly, and we got some people who are interested, but outside of that, it will be business as usual."
