Pitbull Rescued From Mike Vick Dog-Fighting Ring Spends Day Snuggling Kittens

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A new YouTube series about dogs showcases a happy ending for a Pitbull formerly owned by Michael Vick.

Vick, a backup quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers, who also played on the Eagles for several seasons was convicted in 2007 on charges relating to an illegal dog-fighting ring and served time.

One of the dogs rescued from Vick's home, known as Cherry Garcia, now has a new home and family. The black Pitbull is featured in the latest episode of "Dog's Best Day," a series by dog website BarkBox.com which gives dogs the best day of their life. His was a day spent snuggling kittens.

"He loves to play with them," said Cherry's owner, Paul Fiaccone. "Every time he's around kittens it just seems like all his stress goes away."

The two kittens and their handlers arrived via Uber and the snuggling session took place inside a tent deemed the "Kitten Cuddle Fort."

"It was perfect," said Cherry's owner, Melissa Fiaccone in the clip.

When Cherry's not snuggling kittens he's visiting schools with Paul teaching kids about animals and how they become a part of human's lives.

"Cherry's healing started very, very poorly but now he's got a second chance. It's been special to go into some of these communities where kids are overcoming a lot of obstacles and they can see Cherry overcoming odds and inspiring them."

Before becoming a part of the Fiaccone family, Cherry was rehabilitated by the Best Friends Animal Society.

"Nine years later, this dog is one of the best family dogs you could ask for," Melissa said in the video.

And no best day would be complete without an ice cream sundae and a beer -- both dog-friendly of course!
