Sam Bradford Not A Top 25 Athlete In Philly?

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- In most major sports cities, if you were to compile a list of the top 25 athletes in said city, the starting quarterback on the NFL team would almost unequivocally be on the list.

Not in Philadelphia.

PhillyVoice.com ranked the top-25 Philadelphia athletes (must have played a game to qualify) and Eagles QB Sam Bradford did not crack the top 25. In fact, Bradford didn't even crack the top-15 on his own team.

"Because he's not one of the 25 best," PhillyVoice.com editor Matt Mullin told Ike Reese and Pat Gallen on 94WIP. "There were other Eagles' guys that didn't make the list that I think should be on over Bradford...We had Bradford 16th out of the Eagles' players."

The list ranks Fletcher Cox, Claude Giroux, Jakub Voracek, Odubel Herrera, and Malcolm Jenkins as the top-five Philly athletes. Nevertheless, the list is very subjective, as it's hard to compare athlete across positions let alone sports.

Ultimately, the Eagles' failure last season hurt Bradford.

"It's impossible to compare," Mullin said. "Like you guys were saying earlier, comparing like a linebacker or a Flyers player to Nerlens Noel, I mean how do you compare one to the other? But I just don't think [Bradford] did enough last year. Considering where the Eagles were and the quarterback is supposed to be the leader, the face, the guy on the team -- that kind of hurt him."

Five Flyers were in the top-10 and eight made the top-25 list overall, tying them for the most players on the list with the Eagles. Remarkably, both of the Flyers' goalies Michal Neuvirth (No. 24) and Steve Mason (No. 14) made the list.

"They're the most recent team to make the playoffs, granted half of the league makes the playoffs there," Mullin said of the Flyers. "But we kind of went based on guys right now. So when you see Nerlens, [Aaron] Nola, [Jahlil] Okafor at [numbers] 15, 16, 17 that doesn't necessarily mean we think all these Flyers guys -- their careers are going to be better. It's just right now, based kind of on last year, what's expected next year. We didn't want to project too far into the future."
