Mount Laurel Police Investigate Hate Crime, Swastika Discovered On Home

MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. (CBS) -- Mount Laurel Police are investigating a hate crime, after a couple found a swastika spray painted on their brick wall.

A woman called Eyewitness News and said she found the destruction when she woke up and opened her front door. She asked not to be identified.

The woman told Eyewitness News her husband is Jewish and she has several pro-police symbols on her property. She believes one of the two caused the destruction.

"It's terrifying to see what's going on across the country and if this is going to happen in our backyard and our neighborhoods, it's too close to home," she said.

Several detectives at the Mount Laurel Police Department are working the case which is classified as a hate crime. Detectives are asking for any information.

"Why is there so much hate right now? It's a time when everyone should be coming together, not falling apart," she said.

If you have any information, you can remain anonymous. Call Mount Laurel Police at 856-234-8300.
