Positively Philadelphia: Bringing History To Life

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - If you are between eight and twelve years old and you like to write and tell stories, Historic Philadelphia is looking for you.

It's all part of a contest.

"They need to think about who their favorite history hero or heroine is," says president and CEO of Historic Philadelphia, Amy Needle, "and then write a story from 50 to 200 words and email it to us."

She says winners will actually get to tell their story at one of the storytelling benches in the historic district:

"The winners will come to Once Upon a Nation in Historic Philadelphia. They will be paired with one of our Once Upon a Nation storytellers, and the two of them will go out to one of the storytelling benches, tell their story at their bench to visitors who come in from all over the country and world."

She says this contest is about letting the children bring to life somebody they enjoyed learning about in school.
