Burlington Police To Reward Youths With Free Water Ice For Good Deeds

BURLINGTON, N.J. (CBS) -- Thanks to a new program from the Burlington Police Department, it pays to be a well-behave youth in Burlington.

The department, in conjunction with UMMM Ice Cream Parlor, has announced a new community policing initiative to reward "good citizens." When a juvenile is seen exhibiting good behavior, or doing a good dead, a Burlington officer will issue them a card that will award them a free water ice.

The parlor is donating 250 free cards to the department to hand out.

The initiative was the idea of Reserve Corporal Ken Kramer.

The department announced that they have seen an increase in violent crime in the city and this initiative is an effort to build a stronger relationship between the police and the community.
