Teen Arrested For Carjacking, Slapping 82-Year-Old Woman In Burlco

HAINESPORT Twp., NJ (CBS) -- A teen has been arrested in connection with the carjacking of an elderly woman on Saturday, June 11.

Police say a 15-year-old male is in custody after he slapped, and stole the vehicle of the 82-year-old woman from a supermarket parking lot.

On Monday, June 20 Pleasantville Police recovered the stolen vehicle in an alleyway.

After a surveillance video was released, officials say several tips were made, which led to the identification of the suspect.

Police issued a message of gratitude via their Facebook page to all who helped spread word of the incident.

"This is an example of what happens when the police and community works together,' the department stated.

The identity of the suspect has been kept private, due to their status as a juvenile.
