Cops: Man Slaps, Carjacks Elderly Woman In Burlington County

HAINESPORT Twp., NJ (CBS) – Police are on the hunt for a suspect accused of assaulting and carjacking an elderly woman in Burlington County.

Authorities say around 9:30 p.m. on June 11, the victim and her 48-year-old daughter were in the parking lot of a supermarket in Hainesport Township.

The daughter left her mother in the vehicle with the keys while she went into the store.

Police say during that time, the suspect approached the car, opened the passenger door and slapped the 82-year-old woman in the face.

Authorities say he then pulled her out of the vehicle and drove away.

Police describe the suspect as a black man, 5'8", 170 pounds, with long braided hair. He was wearing a white Phillies jersey, white pants and red shoes.

Police say, "The victim could be your mother or your grandmother. We can replace cars, but we can't replace the fear and trauma that this elderly woman unnecessarily had to endure."

Anyone with information is asked to contact NJSP Bordentown Station at (609) 298-1171.
