Advice For Booking A Hotel For The DNC: Good Luck

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- If you still need to book a hotel room in Center City when the Democratic National Convention is in town next month. First, good luck and second, if there are any left be prepared to dig deep into your pocket.

Each Center City hotel reserved 85 percent of their rooms to the DNC and it's delegates. With the remainder of the rooms during convention open to the public.

Ed Grose is the Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Association. He explained how the negotiations worked with delegates and the DNC.

"Each hotel negotiated their room block and their rates for the delegates directly with the DNC and anything over the room blocks they price accordingly depending on supply and demand."

Grose said even though available rooms in Center City are nearly gone, there are plenty of rooms available in other parts of the five county area.

"Even if someone stays in Exton, they can be in Philadelphia in 43 minutes on a train."
