Report: Joel Embiid Cleared To Play

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- It's finally here.

Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid has been cleared to start "light scrimmage in five-on-five setting," per

According to Woj, Embiid is "expected to travel to Las Vegas for summer league in July, but only to practice with the team."

There are lofty expectations for the talented, versatile 7'0" center. According to Woj, Embiid is "expected to travel to Las Vegas for summer league in July, but only to practice with the team."

This news comes on the same day the Sixers worked out and reportedly informed Ben Simmons he would be their selection with the first overall pick on Thursday.

Embiid, 22, was the third-overall pick in 2014, but missed his first two years after back-to-back foot surgeries. He has not played an NBA game.
