Police Arrest Second Person In Connection To Fairmount Park Murder

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Philadelphia Police arrest a second person in connection to the death of a woman whose body was discovered by a couple in Fairmount Park last week. Authorities arrested 28-year-old Shintele Smith of Philadelphia for her alleged involvement in the murder of 26-year-old Toy Charda Bryant of Chester.

Philadelphia Police Captain James Clark said Bryant was found face down with her hands handcuffed in the front.

"It was over a debt, the decedent owed a person about eight hundred dollars, she was unable to pay her back and as a result she was strangled. She was tortured. She was stabbed and ultimately she was shot in the head," Clark said.

He called the level of brutality disturbing.

"It was a truly tragic and vicious killing."

Officials say Smith was charged with murder, criminal conspiracy, kidnapping, robbery, unlawful restraint and other related offenses.

Another woman 39-year-old Shavon Armstrong was already charged for the incident.
