22-Year-Old Delaware Valley Man Shares Journey About Student Depression, Saving Lives

Drew Bergman had everything to live for, but while a junior at St. Joe's Prep, he continued his years long struggle with depression and he attempted suicide. He describes that crisis moment as looking at his life through a straw.

"All that you can see is the pain and the sadness without the ability to look at the big picture and realize that tomorrow may be a better day," Bergman said.

A year later Bergman knew he had to speak out and with the Prep's support, gave an assembly speech that received a 10 minute standing ovation.

"These 10 minutes really showed me that I had the love and support of more people then I could ever imagine," he said.

That is the message Bergman wants others to hear as he continues to speak at schools through a Rosemont based organization called Minding your Mind.
