New Scavenger Hunt In Montgomery County Encourages Residents To Explore Outdoors

MONTGOMERY COUNTY (CBS) -- If you see some odd shapes or images on signs at train-heads in Montgomery County, they're all part of a new scavenger hunt-type challenge aimed at getting more people outdoors.

Brandi Chawaga, with the Montgomery County health department says the goal of the trail challenge is to visit five of the ten designated trails in Montgomery County.

"The Montco trail Challenge is a family friendly initiative," she said. "Each trail has a unique symbol."

Like a star or a sun, which she says will be posted at the entrances to the trails.

Record the symbols, and sign up for a free trail challenge card which you can get at parks, libraries, YMCAs, or on the county's website, then go to the website and submit the five images, and the county will mail a medal.

"The medals are provided by the Pennsylvania department of health, they are a token of achievement, and they are a symbol and reminder to keep motivated and to keep going."
