Bill O'Reilly: Newt Gingrich Will Be Donald Trump's Running Mate

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) - Cable news host and author Bill O'Reilly spoke with Dom Giordano on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT about he new book, Legends and Lies: The Patriots, and predicted that Donald Trump will choose Newt Gingrich as his running mate.

O'Reilly believes the former Speaker of the House, if the tandem wins the general election in November, will be invaluable to Trump in navigating the inner circles of Congress to pass his agenda.

"I think Gingrich does more for Trump because Trump doesn't need state by state at this point, whereas many politicians do. Hillary Clinton needs Sherrod Brown. I think that will be her choice for Ohio. Trump is so larger than life, but he needs somebody that's going to calm the doubters down. Everybody knows, whether you like him or not, that Newt Gingrich understands Congress. He knows Washington. He knows how to get things done. He's a tough guy. I'm predicting that Gingrich will get it."

He also explained that his books, like Legends and Lies: The Patriots, are so successful because people want an honest accounting of what happened generations ago.

"People have a hunger for history. They love their country, but they really want to know what happened, not the saccharine stuff that you get in school and not the ideological stuff that the nation media gives you."
