Chester-Based Company Helping Returning Veterans

by Mike DeNardo

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- A local company is launching a major effort to help veterans returning from today's wars.

The plan is to expand the building at American Legion Post 10 in Fort Washington, to include a gym and computer lab --and to build on-site housing where vets can attend a job-training academy.

"Coming home sometimes means not having a home. Sometimes it means finding a way home, and I mean that in the figurative and literal sense," said Post spokesman Ryan Noyes.

The $4 million project is funded by Chester-based Power Home Remodleing. Mike Hansen, the company's director of veterans affairs, says vets are better workers.

"If we're benefiting, the veterans are benefiting because they're thriving. They're having their livelihood, their careers back," said Hansen.

He says construction should be complete a year from now.
