PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Former Florida Senator and Governor Bob Graham spoke with Rich Zeoli on Talk Radio 1210 WPHT and called for the release of the 28 pages of the 9/11 Commission’s report that focuses on assistance provided to the hijackers from Saudi Arabia.
Graham said the release of the redacted material would go far to answer questions he has as to how the attacks were pulled off successfully.READ MORE: Gov. Phil Murphy Issues State Of Emergency As South Jersey Residents Stock Up Ahead Of Storm
“To me, the central question remaining of 9/11 is did the 19 hijackers, most of whom could not speak English, most of whom have never been in the United States, most of them had limited educational backgrounds, could they have carried out such a sophisticated plot without some assistance while they were in the United States? I, and the other people who have been involved in investigating 9/11 have come to the conclusion that it’s highly unlikely that that could have been the case. Then the question is, if they had support, where did it come from and what was the nature of that support? I think the 28 pages will provide some additional information to answer that central question.”
He accused our own government agencies of actively trying to conceal the role that Saudi officials may have played in the attacks.
“I think it’s beyond a cover-up, which would be passively withholding information from the American people to, what I call, aggressive deception, where a public statement is made as to what to happened which is contradicted by information in the files of an agency which made that public declaration. There have been repeated examples of that, which I think is reprehensible in a democracy which is supposed to have its credibility based on the consent of the people the government represents.”READ MORE: Philadelphia Weather: More Than A Foot Of Snow Expected For Jersey Shore As Nor'easter Approaches
Graham also addressed the crash of an Egyptian airliner and believes that if if was brought down in another episode of terrorism, it only furthers the case to release all the information that we have available.
“If that turns out to be the cause, that just escalates further our concern for aggressive terrorism and our concern for the actions of countries which are financially and, in terms of preparing future terrorists, supporting the terrorist organizations.”
