Energy Professionals Bring Latest Cost Efficient Gadgets To City For Annual Conference

PHILADELPHIA (CBS) -- Energy services professionals from North America are in Philadelphia this week for a conference to learn about gadgets and programs that help reduce energy usage and costs.

The Association of Energy Services Professionals (AESP) is in town for its spring conference where members are able to learn about the latest energy and cost saving products. Suzanne Jones is the chief operation officer for AESP and said it is all about sharing ideas.

"We are bringing all the though leaders together in energy efficiency to exchange ideas on best practices, but most importantly to drive the energy efficiency industry forward," Jones said. "It is a industry in of itself it has jobs."

Some of the products like thermostats, lights and shades can be operated remotely by Internet and other communications tools. There are shower heads that sense when water is hot enough, and advanced power strips that automatically shut down devices when not in use.

Information on a Recycling program that offers monetary insensitive for old working appliances like refrigerators was also made available.
